Mission Statement

Updates

The Reptile Wellness Alliance (RWA) is a science-driven, education-based initiative dedicated to advancing reptile health, welfare, and responsible keeping. We promote transparent practices through testing, quarantine, and biosecurity standards that protect both animals and collections. Our mission is to build a shared knowledge base on reptile pathogens, early detection strategies, and practical prevention tools.

We work to unite breeders, keepers, veterinarians, and scientists in raising awareness, supporting research, and promoting accountability across the reptile community. Through partnerships with diagnostic labs, on-site testing at expos, and accessible resources, we aim to set a higher standard of care and integrity.

The health of reptiles, the responsibility of keepers, and the long-term sustainability of our community are our primary concerns.

the Page is Still Under Construction

We’re currently building something meaningful for the reptile community. The Reptile Wellness Alliance is coming to life—a space dedicated to responsible care, cutting-edge research, and collaboration among keepers, breeders, and veterinarians. Stay tuned for updates, resources, and ways to get involved in shaping a healthier future for our reptiles.

The Reptile Wellness Alliance is a co-creation born from people with passion for reptiles. We believe the reptile community is ready for a change in standards—toward greater health, welfare, and responsibility. The process is slow, since we are only a few people balancing this work with our regular jobs and daily lives.

Our first step is creating a quarantine protocol for new reptiles entering a collection. It was written together with a veterinarian specialized in reptiles and provides professional guidance. If followed, it will help ensure the prevention of reptile diseases across an entire collection. Please read it and share it widely to support safety and integrity in our community.

With care,
The Reptile Wellness Alliance Team
